After last night we really couldn't get up the energy to do anything today so please excuse our exhaustion! Those in Perth would know (and for those in Brighton now), the month leading up to this tour was pretty full on with rehearsals, planning and other performances and it seems we've been running on adrenaline for a while, so a day off here and there is unavoidable now - if we are to survive!
Since we started our add-ons to the list last week with our trip to Betty Lou's, we thought we'd do another addition... #52: Relax at Alcampo Lounge.
Now the Lounges are apparently a bit of a chain cocktail bar around the UK, but different to any chain we've seen! The deco is sweet as, and spacious to boot. The walls are decked out with gorgeous mirrors and interesting portraits, the table and chair settings are a mix of lounges, armchairs, chairs and stools, scattered around a mix of bench tables, round tables and low coffee tables with hatstands, board games and bookcases (complete with books) conveniently placed. Tyler and Erin first visited for a late lunch snack one afternoon and came back to the flat raving about the food and service, promising to take Tamara for a taste of tapas at some point, showing off pictures of their table manners going out the window after their afternoon treat.
Well, the other night was that point, and golly, what an evening! We wandered down the road with our tastebuds salivating at the thought of tapas and cocktails and when we arrived, found a cosy corner to plonk ourselves down and peruse the menu, and realised that Tyler looked just like the picture of the young man in the portrait near us, well maybe not so much, but you can judge below.
Although the poor staff were busy, they brought our cocktails out pretty quickly, and while we waited for the food, we played that good ol' game of pick-a-page. You know? Pick a page number and the first sentence on that page describes... [fill with your own choice of what it will describe]. There were some interesting revelations, like what Tamara's new burlesque name is, how Erin's year is summarised, and what Tyler's next sexual experience will be like... do try this one at home kids!
When our tapas arrived, we had to stop talking while we demolished the best pulled pork ever! The other dishes were good too, but we reordered ( because it's been clarified that we are little piggies) and got round two of the pulled pork along with a couple of other dishes. Then Tammy understood what we meant when we said it was fingerlickin' good, and when we couldn't get any more out of the tapas bowls with our fingers, we reverted to licking the bowls. Parents - you taught us well, you truly did, but it was just super tasty we couldn't help ourselves! Lucky we were in a corner so we don't think anybody noticed. Really, this place should be on the list because it is such very good food, and good value for money too! Plus the cocktails were awesome!
