Now #7 on We Love Brighton's list is one of Robert's favourite venues in Brighton. He's been here a number of times already and was so excited when Tyler and Erin agreed to join him to: Catch a show at Komedia.
Apparently one of the south's most popular comedy clubs, Komedia is a beautiful building in the North Laine - the one with the legs you would have seen in one of our previous posts. Since we've seen a bit of stand up comedy at Otherplace Basement already though, and Dukes at Komedia was doing a special screening of an iconic Australian movie, we thought we'd catch a film instead!
We never realised just how many people in Brighton were keen on the Mad Max movies, but wow! The cinema was practically full! Now maybe this wasn't so hard since the cinema only fits around 100 people, but really? That full on a Wednesday night for a marathon movie session for four hours? Watching films from 1979 and 1981? Hardcore fans. We really had to rewatch these films to prepare for Mad Max: Fury Road that we are going to see on Monday, and maybe all these other people were doing the same thing... and we all loved it! Maybe because some of the lines or moments in the films were very funny, maybe because the cinema at Komedia had super comfy seats and customers were able to take in not only their sweets and popcorn, but their alcoholic beverages bought at the venue's cute cafe? Probably a combination of these things, but this cinema was definitely worth a visit. Now we should go back to try to catch some comedy downstairs while Robert watches more of the movies.
And if you haven't seen Mad Max yet - do your own marathon, then go see this!
(Sorry, we forgot to take a picture of Komedia so you get this instead!)
