So we thought we'd stay up all night to complete the next chosen activity off We Love Brighton's list, another foodie one I'm afraid... #42. Enjoy a sit down meal at 4 in the morning at Buddies,
Now this deserves a little bit of story behind it - We Love Brighton describe Buddies as "a friendly Brighton icon for affordable and satisfying food to put into your drunken face".
Well, we tried our hardest to make sure this description would be aptly appropriate for our experience and had a night out with the Otherplace team at the Basement, where we happened to catch the last night of State vs John Hayes (catch it in London at The King's Head Theatre if you can, it's truly brilliant!) and ended up having drinks with the Epsilon Productions folks as well as some of the awesome Otherplace people. Drinks started after the show at about 9.30pm, and ended when Tyler looked at his watch and exclaimed 'Oh crap! It's 5.08am!' So we missed the four in the morning bit for Buddies, but we decided to still give it a try given we were quite totally toasted and really really hungry.
We stumbled drunkenly through the streets of Brighton in the wee hours and had a side trip along the rocky beach where Erin tried her hardest to lose everything in her pockets and then bury Tyler in the rocks. The we finally ended up at Buddies. There was only one other group of diners there so we had our pick of tables and after perusing the menu closely we decided on our orders.
Then we waited.
And waited a little more,
Then we went up to the waiter and asked if we could place our order only to be told that he couldn't find the chef. They Lost The Chef From Buddies!
So we left. Bad Buddies.
And ended up at Maccas for breakfast.
Ps: Can someone please tell us if they ever find the chef from Buddies? We want our breakfast!!!
