#18 in the We Love Brighton list just happens to be...Brighton Fringe Festival!
Remarkably convenient you might think, but at least that gets our first, and possibly simplest task at this point, out of the way - although obviously we're participating for the whole month of May! (Just wait for our happily exhausted pictures at the end of tour.)
Brighton Fringe is the largest arts festival in England and is already proving to be a delight. An open access festival, it has more than 750 shows! We are lucky enough to be involved in the curated selection put together and run by Otherplace Productions - one of the loveliest teams of arts makers and producers you will ever meet. They have chosen some really exciting pieces and we are so thrilled to not only perform as part of their programme, but to see as many of the other wonderful talent they have on display.
Last night was the Otherplace Productions Launch Party, taking place at The Warren with a bar, food, rockabilly bands and entertainment - including us! There were six shows showcasing excerpts for the launch - if you are interested in reading up on who we met, or catching their shows should you be in Brighton, they were: Ludwig Live, Greywing House, carMen, Guruguru, The Trousered Traviata and ourselves as the finale of the evening.
Rosie Blackwell-Sutton was kind enough to share this picture on twitter (@rmmbs) of the middle song of our mashup... see if you can guess which one it was!
So we smashed it. Then we went and had a drink at the bar - a double rum and ginger for Tamara, Tyler and Erin, and a pint of coke for Robert, and proceeded to impress by taking over the dance floor in style! Well, Robert and Tamara did (check out picteres on our facebook or The Warren facebook page) and Tyler and Erin wandered off for a VIP dinner. That is, Very Italian Pizza. It was good.
So... Task one complete. Brighton Fringe is officially launched for us, and we look forward to all our adventures over the month.
